Hi, I am Mrs. Bilodeau!
I am the library media specialist at Windsor Locks Middle School and this is my 20th year.
I have been happily working in the education field for many years, and most of the time in libraries. I worked for the Springfield City Libraries (home of Dr. Seuss) for 16 years as a Children's Librarian. I also had the opportunity to work as a library media specialist in a K-8 school and a high school before coming to Windsor Locks.
I have always enjoyed school, learning, and children (being the first born in a large family), so it was natural that I went to college to become a teacher. I received my BA in Elementary Education from Westfield State University, and a MA in Education in Library Media Studies from Bridgewater State University. After that, I continued to learn how to be a better teacher by taking courses in teaching strategies and technology.
I have been happily married for more years than I care to count, and my husband and I have three wonderful children, who I am proud to say, all graduated from college. I have many hobbies including gardening, reading, sewing, rug braiding, and yoga (now you have an idea what I do in the summer).
I am a proud grandmother. Now spending time with my grandchildren is my favorite hobby. As you many have guessed...I love to read to my grandchildren...and they love books!
I consider reading to be one of the most important pleasures in life, and I dedicate my time and energy to help students find the joy in this activity. I also love working with technology, and I facilitate student's educational use of all types of technology tools in the LMC and labs. I believe that it is important for students to develop literacy skills that go beyond reading and writing and include understanding, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
If you visit the Middle School be sure to stop in and check out our beautiful Library Media Center. Mrs. Lavender (our Library Assistant) and I would be glad to show you around and share some of the great books we have in our collection.
