Workshop Model: Writer's Workshop
The writer's workshop is similar to reader's workshop beginning with a mini-lesson, followed by independent writing time. During the writing time, I confer with writers one-on-one, work with strategy groups, and assign partner tasks. Our main focus is small moment stories which are short, true stories that zoom right into the important part. We begin the year brainstorming story ideas using important people, places, and things in our lives. As the year progresses, we add dialogue, exciting details, character development, and so much more!
Your child will have writing homework 1-2 times per week. The assignment is to write a 1/2 page small moment focused on one idea.
