Project PROMise will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 10- 3 pm at Rhythm’s Dance Academy.  This is an exciting opportunity to purchase/borrow a huge selection of beautiful prom dresses!  See your guidance counselor for the entry from, the sign up is March 1st; once the entry form is completed you will need your student ID and $50.00 cash deposit to reserve your dress!!

Nutmeg Show Choir

February 23, 2016

The Windsor Locks High School Show Choir, Vocal Motion, and the Windsor Locks Middle School Show Choir, Power Company, will be hosting the 26th annual Nutmeg Show Choir Festival on Saturday, February 27th.  The show begins at 10:30 AM with a performance of the Windsor Locks HS Jazz Band followed by the first show choir performance at 11:00 AM.  The event runs throughout the day with performances by fifteen competing show choirs.

 

Tickets are $10 for Students/Children, $15 for Adults, and $20 for seating in a reserved section of the auditorium.  Tickets may be purchased at the door and at http://nutmegshowchoirfestival.com

CAPT and SAT TEST MARCH 2

February 15, 2016

March 2, 2016 CAPT/SAT TEST DAY

Grade 9: Science MAP and in-house Capt test 

Grade 10: CAPT

Grade 11: SAT

Grade 12: no test, students may arrive at the beginning of period 5, 11:06 (periods 5,6,7 will be held)

Students will test with their advisory teachers. Please see the bulletin board outside of counseling for testing locations. Buses will run on normal schedule AND students should report promptly to their testing location by 7:30am

All students should eat a good breakfast, bring a snack and pencils to school for tests.  Cell phones will not be allowed in any testing environment.

Scholarship Opportunities for seniors

ATTENTION SENIORS:

Two new scholarships are now available on Naviance:

1) The University of Connecticut's Women's Center is pleased to announce the 100 Years of Women Scholarship Award ranging from $250-$1000.  Applicants must demonstrate       commitment to women's issues through service to their community or school, in need of      financial assistance, show high academic performance, and be a high school senior            planning to enroll at UConn in the fall 2016.

     Deadline is February 26th - See Naviance for details.

2)  The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is offering the Kenneth R Pietrasko                        Scholarship worth $1000 and it is renewable.  

      Criteria and preference for the scholarship will be given to student meeting all or most of the following criteria:

     Graduating seniors from a high school in one of the 29 towns* in the Greater Hartford         region

    Are suffering from an illness or have a parent or sibling who is suffering from an illness        during the student’s last year of high school

    Have financial need

     Reside in the 29 town Greater Hartford region*

    Will be attending a four-year college or community college
