APG Math is a course that is designed to meet the needs of each individual student.  Math topics and coursework vary from year to year and from student to student.  Typically, freshmen and sophomores study the essentials of mathematics as tested by the CAPT assessment as indicated by the state of Connecticut's Mathematic's Curricular Frameworks.  Typically, juniors and seniors study practical mathematics that prepare them for the world of work. Math topics studied include but are not limited to:

Algebra: Topics include:

Relationships among patterns and/or functions

Representing functions (both linear and non-linear) using tables and graphs

Manipulate equations, inequalities and functions to solve problems

Solve problems dealing with inequalities

Develop strategies for computation and estimation

Solve proportional reasoning problems

Understand and apply the principles of probability in a variety of situations

PYTHAGORAS IS THE FATHER OF THE PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM!!!

Geometry: Topics include:

exploring geometry terms: points, lines, planes, and angles

parallel lines and transversals

poperties of triangles and quadrilaterals

congruency and transformation

proportion and similarity

the Pythagorean Theorem

perimeter and area

solid gemometric figures (surface area and volume)

properties of circles
