Art Class Philosophy
Art is an essential part of life for all and it is through the arts that students grow in a diversity of ways.
Art….
· Increases problem solving and higher order thinking skills.
· Enhances all other subjects such as history, culture, language, math and science.
· Provides greater understanding of artwork itself in various cultures, history, production, techniques and artists.
· Improves artistic talents and abilities both in creative thinking and physical activity.
· Allows for personal expression of opinions and feelings.
Main Art Class Units
Each year students practice their art through drawing, coloring, painting and clay.
Four large units of study are observational and creative drawing, color mixing and color schemes, three dimensional exploration and
abstract or non-objective art.
