As a way to create a ‘positive’ classroom environment, we are adopting a Bucket Filling philosophy. We would like to provide you with as much information about this initiative in order to support our efforts at home. This idea is based on three texts we will be reading throughout the year.
We will spend the first few weeks of school reading, responding to these texts, and engaging in activities which will include each student creating their own bucket. This will be used as a visual representation of this character building theme.
Our vision is to work to create:
- Happy, confident children who are able to express kindness, respect, and appreciation toward others
- Compassionate children who are other-centered
- Resilient children who are able to bounce back from bucket dipping
- Strong, positive families, classrooms, schools, businesses, and communities
- Children and adults who are healthy mentally, emotionally, and socially
- Safe, positive, nurturing schools where all children are well able to learn and succeed
- A world where people focus on the good and best in others

Our bucket filling philosophy aligns with our North Street School Constitution / Habits of Scholarship ~
Perseverance
We keep trying without giving up.
Responsibility
We make positive choices that help us grow and learn.
Integrity
We make positive choices, even when nobody is watching.
Collaboration
We use kind words and actions when working together.

* Please ask your child about these character traits and how we incorporate them into our daily routines and expectations.
Thank you for your support in this classroom endeavor.
Sincerely,
Amy Nemeth
