WLMS 8th grade student Dustin Zapala won second place in the Connecticut VFW District 3 Patriot’s Pen essay contest.
Due to the rain forecast for tomorrow, the 8th grade trip to Pesci Park has been rescheduled for Monday, October 24th.
We are welcoming the WLMS Virtual Backpack. Parents will now have access to all information sent home with students. If you see or hear of anything that I haven't put on, please let me know.
We hope you'll be able to join us for Parent Information Night on Thursday, September 29th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. You'll be able to hear from our principals and counselors, meet your student's teachers, and connect with important school partners.
We also wanted to let you know that Middle School students are invited to attend with their parents, if it's convenient. It's important that everyone hears the same message.
Along the same lines, one of the things that you'll hear me, personally, stressing on Thursday and throughout this year is the importance of our students' role in their own learning process. What this means is that, as a school, we will be setting about to find even more ways for students to be able to ARTICULATE their learning. Where did they start? What have they accomplished? What's next? With a deep, personal understanding of their own situation, a student is much more likely to be motivated and challenged.
If you have any questions about this event, please do not hesitate to check with your student's teacher or call the main office.
Hi Families,
Welcome back! We are eager to begin working with you and your child during the 2016-2017 school year.
Our schools are warm, caring places where multiple academic and enrichment initiatives are taking place. In an effort to keep you informed and to facilitate a deeper understanding of what is taking place in the district, we’ve embarked upon a project to create short informational video segments on a bi-monthly basis.
We are calling the project Open Mic @ Windsor Locks Public Schools. As implied by the term Open Mic, these video segments are a “show” where multiple voices will be heard: administrators, educators, parents, and the larger community.
Please be sure to watch our very first episode, which can be viewed at www.OpenMicWLPS.com. Note that there is no registration required. We will soon be adding ways for you to participate by sending in your thoughts and comments.
OpenMic@WLPS is our commitment to keeping you informed of the wonderful things happening in your child’s school. We look forward to having it evolve into a forum that is a meaningful part of our partnership. We hope you enjoy it!
WLMS New Student / Family Orientation
We hope you’ll be able to join us on Thursday, August 25th for an orientation for all parents and students new to Windsor Locks Middle School. This will be the same orientation that we offered to students and families this past June.
We will be holding two identical sessions—one at 10:00 AM and one at 6:00 PM. You’ll be able to meet middle school teachers and counselors, ask questions, and take a tour of our school.
If you have any questions about this event, please feel free to call the office at (860) 292-5012.
Pictures Retake/Make up Day will be on Friday, December 4th.
If you need a retake, please send the original photos in with your student. If you didn't have your photos done or if you would like to order, please stop by the office to pick up a picture slip.
