Red, White and Blue School

Windsor Locks, CT – The Windsor Locks Middle School has been recognized as a Red, White and Blue School for the 2017-2018 school year.  The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 12 from 4:00-5:30 at the O’Connell Elementary School, 301 May Road, East Hartford.

 

This year’s theme was Local Community Engagement. Red, White & Blue Schools is a collaboration between the Office of the Secretary of State & the State Department of Education to recognize Connecticut Schools K-12.

 

The Windsor Locks History Club and Social Studies department was recognized for their Windsor Locks History projects and for their creation and growth of Heritage Day.

 

Students from history club received the award and spoke about how Heritage Day has helped bring together the community and raise money for the historic train station.

The Commissioner of Education, Dr. Dianna Wentzell and the Secretary of State, Ms. Denise Merrill, were in attendance to speak and present the recognition plaques.
