Administration of Medicine to Students in School:            

The Windsor Locks Public Schools medical advisor, Dr. Alan Soroka M.D. has written standing orders for the nurses to administer Tylenol and/or Ibuprofen to students who have given us written, parental permission. Therefore, students who come to the health office complaining of a headache or pain may receive either Tylenol or Ibuprofen, IF we have something in writing from the student’s parent/guardian. We are allowed to administer only regular strength Tylenol up to 650 mg (2 regular tablets) OR Ibuprofen 200 mg (1 tab for students in Middle school; 2 tabs for High school students).Please, Note: We have stock supplies of generic Tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen tablets. If your child can not swallow pills, you must deliver the liquid/chewable forms of the above medication to the health office. DO NOT SEND MEDICATION IN WITH STUDENTS. State law does not allow us to accept medications sent in with students.
If you would like your child to be able to receive either of the above pain relievers, please complete the top portion of the Authorization for the Administration of Medicines by School Personnel form, (found on the Forms page) and sign the bottom portion, and return to the Health Office.

Parents of Students Taking Medication in School___(YEAR END INFO)  
Please be aware that your child's medication must be picked up by an adult by 2:15 p.m. on or before June (to be determined), 2010.  All Medications will be discarded after this time.  If you are unable to pickup your child's medication, please arrange for a neighbor, friend or relative to do so.  Medications will not be sent home with children.  This is in accordance with state regulations.  If you have any questions, please call the Health Office.
