Goals of The Windsor Locks Reading Program

The first goal is to help each student become a self-directed, strategic reader and writer.  Strategic readers and writers are successful when they:

• Determine a purpose for reading and writing.
• Decide how to approach the task.
• Monitor their own understanding.
• Apply their reading and writing skills and strategies.

The second goal, no less important than the first, is to help each student become a life-long reader and writer.
