Rhythms and Movement

 

The definition of dance is to move one's feet or body, or both, rhythmically in a pattern of steps, especially to the accompaniment of music. 

6th/7th Grade:

Line Dances

A line dance is a choreographed dance with repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows without regard for the gender of the individuals, all facing either each other or in the same direction, and executing the steps at the same time (Macarena, Alley cat, YMCA, Bunny Hop, Cotton Eyed Joe, etc).

8th Grade:

Multicultural Dance

A popular dance, considered as part of the tradition or custom of a particular people (i.e. Virginia Reel-United States, Hora-Israel, Les Salutes-Canada, Sasha-Russia, Irish Washerwoman-Ireland, etc.)
