Most of our students attend Windsor Locks High School which is an awesome high school with many opportunities. WLHS is a college and career preparatory high school. We will notify students and parents when the high school will begin scheduling for 9th grade. Students will be given information regarding the programs they offer and will be able to ask questions.

The Windsor Locks High School has some great programs and is a great fit for many of our students. Visit their website at www.wlps/wlhs to see all that they have to offer.
One option for students is to attend one of the magnet schools that are in our area. They offer programs in many areas including engineering, performing arts and many others. The link to the CREC website is below. Students are chosen by lottery. There are open houses at the different magnet schools. Go to the website (www.crec.org) and see when they are offered. You can apply online or you can print out the application. Watch for deadlines. The application process typically opens mid October until the end of January .
Suffield Vocational Agricultural High School is another option for our students that have an interest in agriculture and animal science. Suffield VOAG will come and talk to our students in the Fall. Students who are interested will be invited to visit the school and fill out an application. An interview is also part of the process. Students that are accepted must follow the VOAG track, taking all VOAG classes for their electives as well as for many of the required classes. January is the usual deadline for applying. They will be visiting interested 8th graders in October, here at the middle school.
Howell Cheney Technical High School in Manchester and A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford are technical schools that our students may apply to attend. The link to their website is below. The deadline is usually in December. Cheney and Prince Tech both have open houses in the Fall so if you are interested, check the website for dates. If you missed it, then check out their website for other opportunities to go and visit the schools. You can call them to set up a time with their guidance department. They will visit us in October and will meet with the interested 8th graders. Any questions, please contact me. If you are interested in attending either of these schools plan to visit them before you apply.
Parents who are interested in pursuing a private school education may contact their child's counselor for information regarding recommendations and/or release of student transcripts. My best advice is earlier is better!
