Hello Parents,
We, teacher, parent(s), student(s) are into another school year 2016-2017. We will set the stage for our students to become owners of their learning and life-long learners. We have numerous writings, readings, projects/investigations to work through and they will be learning how to become stakeholders in OUR classroom.
Technology will become an asset in our classroom this year. All students will be working individually and in groups for different things. This will be a new learning environment /experience for many of them as they will be asked to come up with inquiry questions, learn and develop research skills, interpret their findings and share their findings.
We will be completing several assessments in writing and I will be working with the students to read, re-read and revise their work. We are using Document Based Questions or DBQ's. We will not "push forward" simply for the sake of time; we will push forward after the standard has been met which means: some students will need extra help and more time which equates to some work at lunch and after school. PLEASE encourage your student along the way. They will struggle and want to give up at times......let's not let them!
I stay after school several nights a week and will let you know via e-mail or a phone call when I need your student to stay after.
Normally, if we complete the day's lesson, I do not give very much homework; but when I do what is required SHOULD be done!
Have a wonderful Spring.
Thanks,
Mr. R
