Students in this course will gain essential background knowledge regarding American journalism to familiarize them with the role of news media in a democratic society. They will gain a rich understanding of the essential history of journalism. Study will analyze the balance between freedom of speech and objective reporting. Students will work through the process of defining news, interview tactics, generating various types of articles, layout design and photojournalism.
