THE COURAGE TO SPEAK

FOUNDATION

is an association that I receive material from on a regular basis.  That being said they printed out the following in one of their newsletters.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University in 2011 declared that teen smoking and alcohol consumption, use of illegal drugs and misuse of prescription drugs remain a number one health problem nationwide, described as an "Epidemic." Children who learn about risks associated with smoking and other substance abuse issues from their parents are 50% less likely to use or abuse.

If you don't feel comfortable talking with your child we can talk ......don't hesitate to call 860-292-5718.

If you go to "The Courage to Speak Foundation" right now there are tips for keeping your child safe during the summer, definitely worth a moment of your time.

NOTE: According to the "National Survey on Drug Use and Health" in 2010 an estimated 22.1 million persons age 12 or older were classified with substance dependence or abuse in the past year ( that is 8.7) of the population age 12  or older.
