Reading

During Unit 1 students will interpret characters. Each unit has three bends. The first bend or section of the unit is establishing a reading life. Students gather character traits as they read. Throughout the second bend students think deeply about their characters by providing evidence for the character traits. Students will also identify the characters wants or motivation. Students will notice how and why the character changes throughout the story. In the final section or bend, students will be building interpretations about their characters. Interpretations will include the theme of the story.
