WLPS Youth Mentoring Planning Team

The Windsor Locks Public Schools Office of Partnerships is thrilled to announce that we will be piloting a youth mentoring program this coming fall (September 2021) for 7th and 9th graders. We're looking to build a planning team and would love to you join us!

Studies have shown that kids with mentors (a non-family member adult who cares about them & spends time with them) learn more, earn more, are healthier for longer, and are more likely to avoid negative influences.

In order to create a program that best fits the needs of our students and our community, we're putting together a planning team. The planning team will discuss and design program logistics. This is a once a month (2 hours total) commitment through the end of the current school year. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We will meet via Zoom.

Anyone (i.e. parents, caregivers, staff, students, community members, etc.) in the WLPS community can (and is encouraged to) join the planning team; the only requirement is that you have an interest in creating a stellar youth mentoring program for our community.
